  • In the “Swiss News” sketch. Mel Smith and Griff Rhys-Jones reactions were genuine, as they nearly cracked up, which was unintentional and was not in the script.
  • Mel Smith passed away on 19th July 2013, 14 years and 9 months after the sketch comedy show ended on 14th October 1998.
  • The sketch which Mel Smith kisses Griff Rhys-Jones was voted “One of Smith and Jone’s funniest sketches”.
  • According to Mel Smith, the idea for the Head to Head sketches came about because it was an opportunity for 2 men alone talking about their foibles which had emotional honesty and the barriers were down.
  • The show’s title is a parody of the title of an American TV series, Alias Smith and Jones (1971).
