It is a location of the South Western part of France that has been loved by European Royalty since the 1800s. Biarritz is located on the Bay of Biscay in the Pyrenees-Atlantiques of the French Basque Country.
The one thing that is well and truly striking about Biarritz and the core reason I believe that you should visit the area is because of the stunning coastline. It is such a fantastic thing to see and walk around and apparently is one of the important parts of the city attractions. Although figures say that the coastline erodes away by 70cm every year.
If you are going to look at the coast then you have to visit the beaches as they are really stunning. There are six beaches in total – Miramar, Big, Old Port, Coast of the Basque, Marbella and Milady. It is also renowned for its surfing scene and annually hosts competitions such as Quicksilver and Roxy Jam Tournaments.
When I visited Biarritz, I fell in love with the coastline – you can get lost just looking at the formations of the rock and I took so many photos because at every angle you see something new. I adored the reflections that it caused on the sea and the way that it wrapped itself around the coast. I wasn’t a fan of the commercial beaches in the centre of town but when you walk away from the town there there are some beautiful ones in walking distance.
