The Single Sessions – Raindrops, Mariama

Welcome the feature where we look at new singles coming onto the music scene. Today we look at the latest single by Mariama.

This song is a great song for a hot summers day as it has a really mellow feel to it. Throughout the song the predominant sound of a mellow drum beat drives this song and creates a metaphor for the title of the song – Raindrops.

The song has quite a jolly sound to it but if you listen to the lyrics it is actually quite a sad song about heartbreak and the end of a relationship. The use of raindrops is defined as a metaphor for the sadness and ‘raindrops just falling on my head maybe tomorrow the sun will shine tomorrow again’

This song has a really nice melody to it that relies on beat and melodic instruments to create a emotional track that it quite addictive to listen to. Mariama has a really enchanting voice that is a delight to listen to. Give this song a listen and ‘stand still and feel the rain’
