Off The Record – ALBUM FOCUS – Please Don’t Be Dead, Fantastic Negrito

Have you ever wanted To listen to a new band or musician and not sure where to start? Well, instead of listening to their commercial music, why not start with something off the album first!  Today we look at the album Please Don’t Be Dead by Fantastic Negrito

Plastic Hamburgers

This song starts with some really good heavy blues guitar, the riffs intertwine dirtily and beautifully with the singers voice. The drums are rhythmic whilst also catchy and really being the whole piece together. This is one great song and a fantastic track to start the album with. In the middle there is a musical interlude that highlights the guitar solos, the keyboard and the drums wonderful melody musings..

A Letter to Fear

This starts with a soulful guitar with a slow repetitive drum beat that really highlight the meaningful vocals when they come in. This song is really nice as the lyrics are sung wonderfully and the sticcato piano that intertwines throughout really emphasis the emotion.

A Boy Named Andrew

This song has a very different sound to the rest of the album so far. The intro is very up tempo guitar that turn into a theme that you may hear in a western. The lyrics and sound is raw yet memorising as it really looks at the genre in a different angle whilst also emphasising the key elements.

Dark Windows

If you are a fan of stereophonics then you will like this song as it has elements of that band in this song. It’s a lot slower then a lot of the album but it is also one of the most beautiful on the track, it’s got a wonderful melody thay is mystical and beautifully written.
