Forgotten Pop

Forgotten Pop! – This Week – The Androids

Welcome to the article where we celebrate pop groups that you may of completely forgot about their music or may not of heard of them before and want to listen to something new! Today we look at a band from Australia that had a few hit songs in the early noughties.

The Androids was made up of Tim, Matt, Sam and Marty. The band had success in their home country as well as supporting Pink on her Australian leg of her tour. If you are in the U.K. then this band will sound familiar when I mention this single as it went into the top 20 in the U.K. Charts – Do It With Madonna.

The single was released in October of 2002 and it was also the debut single from the band as well. The song basically compared other ‘pop princesses’ to Madonna and basically say she is the best. Madonna has apparently heard the song and was a fan of it.

The song entered number 4 in the Australian singles chart and number 15 in the U.K. The single even won the best video at the ARIA Music Awards of 2003.

The band went on to have other singles in Australia such as Here She Comes, Brand New Life and Whole Lotta Love but never repeated the success of their debut. So let’s have a look at their music today.
