Off The Record – ALBUM FOCUS – Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, Arctic Monkeys

Have you ever wanted To listen to a new band or musician and not sure where to start? Well, instead of listening to their commercial music, why not start with something off the album first!  Today we look at an the latest album by a band that have now said that this albums world tour is now over and they are now going to wait until the new album before touring again  – Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, Arctic Monkeys

Star Treatment

This is the opening track of this album and it is very chilled out and ambient which defines what is to come on the album. I am not sure how Arctic Monkey fans feel about this being the opening track but I felt it was a bit well dull, it is very slow and repetitive and personally I think it is one of the weakest songs on the entire album. The instruments are melodic and intertwine well with the harmonies of the frontman voice, however it does feel a bit like it doesnt really progress musically.

One Point Perspective

This is another song that is a slower pace however the thing that makes this song stand out is the repetitive piano tones throughout the song – that intertwined with the guitar riffs make this a really interesting song to listen to.

Golden Trunks

I think it is safe to say that this album really focuses on the chilled side of Arctic Monkeys and embodies the world of psychedelic pop music! This song focuses on the world of the guitar riff and echo based singing which creates a sense of spooky sounds that sound sort of haunting.

She Looks Like Fun

This is one of the more up tempo songs on the album and with it comes an unusual set up musically. It has a lot of guitar riffs that intertwine between a jazzy style piano. It is quite different to the rest of the songs on the album but give it a listen you may like it.
