Forgotten Pop! – A Month Of Pairs Special Edition – Gwyneth Paltrow and Huey Lewis

Today we are still delving into the world of forgotten duets and today we look at a song that was released as part of a film soundtrack and actually did pretty well in the charts in different part of the world. EVEN THOUGH every list of duets I looked at for this article claimed it was awful and it received many negative reviews.

The film Duets was released in 2000 and starred Gwyneth Paltrow, Huey Lewis, Paul Giamatti and Maria Bello. The film was about the world of Karaoke and the competitions that can be evolved around it. One of the songs that came out of the film was a cover by Gwyneth and Huey of the song Cruisin’.

This film had a soundtrack released alongside the release of the film which contained a variety of songs from the film including this particular song. The song Criusin’ hit the charts in Australia and New Zealand and did very well as it lasted two weeks at number one in Australia and five weeks in New Zealand.

Even though it did well on one side of the world, it did not bode well in the rest – it was welcomed by a lot of negative reviews and if you google the name of the duet online the negative reviews are not hard to find. People commented on the fact that Gwyneth should of kept to acting and that the duet does not work. What do you think? Song below.
