When you go to a new are no matter where it is, you want to visit an area that is a bit more upmarket to first see how the other half live and also just to see them because a lot of the time these villages and towns are usually quite pretty. In the Historic District of Tampa, there is a place called Hyde Park Village and it is a pleasant place to visit.
Hyde Park Village was established in 1905 and is based on Swann Avenue, you only have to visit the website to see the calligraphy writing to see the style of place that it is.
The village is home to many types of shops including Pottery Barn, The Shade Store, Salt Pines, Bluemercury and The Hyppo. One of my favourite shops when I visited was a show called Downtown Dogs, which like it’s title suggests, is a shop for dogs. I went to Tampa in 2013 and before then I had never seen such a shop before – full of things such as cupcakes for dogs, special water hydrants you can buy to let them pee on, customised collars and so much more. The village is also home to a number of events throughout the year including themed events for holidays and a market.
If you are in Tampa, give the village a visit as it is a really nice place to walk around – like I said there is a lot of variety of shops some are a tad pricey but visit the dog shop, there is nothing like it. Well, maybe in America, but I felt it was unique.
