Welcome To Taste of States a place where we celebrate the weird and wonderful food of the United States of America. This can be everything from the snacks that are available for a limited time to the foods that are classic traditions at events such as Christmas and Thanksgiving! Each week we will explore the facts and the history surrounding a different food.
One of the television shows that is my guilty pleasure is Man Vs Food and the other day I came across a brand new series with a brand new host and was interested to see if he could take on the beast of a food challenges that the previous host could. The episode I saw was a standard hot dog challenge which I was half listening to until I heard some of the flavours of the hot dog flavours and my draw dropped.
There is a hot dog joint in Sleepy Hollow, New York state called Dobbs Dawghouse that provides any flavour you can think of. Think you have thought of every flavour – well how about having sweet and sugar on a savoury hot dog.
One of the hot dogs that stood out on the list to me was something I would never relate to a hot dog – a smore. This hot dog is in a bun and topped with chocolate sauce, marshmallows and graham cracker crumbs. I do not know what to think about this.
There are so many other sweet options including PB &J Crunch, Dessesrt DAwg and IHOPP.
