If you do not suffer from vertigo then there is a tourist attraction you have to visit if you go to the island of Madeira as it is the highest cape in Europe. The Miradouro do Cabo Girão, is situated Câmara de Lobos is open daily 8am-7pm in the winter and 8am – 9pm in the summer months. So why make the effort to visit?
Well Miradouro do Cabo Girão is a suspended glass platform with a 580 metre drop below it. The skywalk opened in 2012 and the aim of it was to make it similar to American’s Grand Canyon viewing point. It is also free for visitors to adventure onto as well.
The viewing platform offers a variety of views for you to be amazed by of the coast of Funchal and the municipalities of Câmara de Lobos. If you look down, below the glass platform is the ocean and the cliff face.
This attraction is not for the faint hearted. I am not afraid of heights and I found it absolutely fine and also interesting but even if you have the slightest worry about being up high then this is not the tourist attraction for you.
