Forgotten Pop! – This Week – Warren Stacey

Last week we looked at Kym Marsh who started her career by being part of the band Hear’Say that formed through the talent show competition Popstars. Today we look at a solo artist that also came into the public eye through that show but did not make it into the final band and went it alone. Today we look at the world of Warren Stacey.

Warren first caught the judges eye with his cover of the Robbie Williams song Angels. He was eliminated from boot camp on the fourth day of the competition because it was obvious he had more influence in singing gospel which is not what they wanted for the final group. That was not the end of his music career, instead it was only the beginning and he got signed to Def Jam Recordings weeks after he left the show and was flown to Los Angeles to write and record his debut single.

Warren’s first single was called My Girl My Girl, the song ended up being his only official track. The song reached and peaked at number 26 in the UK charts. He performed at a number of concerts as well including being a support act for Destinys Child. So let’s have a look at his past single today and have a look at a song that came from the success of Popstars.
