Welcome To Taste of States a place where we celebrate the weird and wonderful food of the United States of America. This can be everything from the snacks that are available for a limited time to the foods that are classic traditions at events such as Christmas and Thanksgiving! Each week we will explore the facts and the history surrounding a different food.
COFFEE NUT M&Ms
They are a candy brand in America that are renowned for the variety of flavours that they release throughout the year at different occasions. We sadly do not get that many flavours in the UK so lets delve into one of the flavours they released that is classed as a rare flavour to find these days – Coffee Nut.
Back in 2016, M&Ms released their first ever Flavour Contest, the chocolate company released three different flavours and then the public were asked to vote on which flavour they liked the best. In 2016 the theme of the favour contest was to find the next peanut flavoured chocolate M&M, the copetitors were Honey Nut, Coffee Nut and Chilli Nut. The American public voted for the Coffee Nut as their favourite and were put on sale. They were only meant to be on sale for a limited time but they proved really popular that they are still around today.
Coffee Nut M&Ms are whole peanuts covered in chocolate that is coffee flavoured and then a sugar shell coating. They received a lot of positive reviews (hence the reason that they probably won in the first place) as the robust coffee flavour mixes really well with the peanut and the chocolate.
