When you go to Switzerland, you want somewhere that provides stunning views of the mountains and the lakes then this is a place that you should go and visit if you are in the canton of Bern. Thun is situated at the lower part of Lake Thun and on the River Aare. It is home to an Old historic town and there is a castle as well. The area was first classed as a settlement in 2,500 BC. As well as being a tourist area it is also the area with a lot of engineering, food industry and the largest garrison in the country.
Thun is the home to many tourist attractions including Thun Castle, The Rathaus and The Wocher Panorama which is the oldest remaining panorama drawing in the world.
When I went to Thun it was a public holiday, so it was pretty quiet in the town but that did not matter because the views and the quaintness made up for it. There is a beautiful old fashioned bridge in the centre of the town and there is a beautiful walk around the lake as well that is home to some wonderful views and is very tranquil and pretty.
Thun is a very nice place to visit if you want somewhere that is away from the regular spots of tourism in Switzerland and it will be a decision that you will not regret.
