Off The Record – Calvin Harris

Have you ever wanted To listen to a new band or musician and not sure where to start? Well, instead of listening to their commercial music, why not start with something off the album first! Today we talk about an artist that is one of the biggest DJs in the world  – Calvin Harris

Colours – I Created Disco album

This song really defines the early music from Calvin Harris – it has a real old school fell to it and it really  hard in the beat changes. It is a really catchy song but is very electronic sounding. True to his older work, he actually sings on the songs as well. It has a sound that is very evident in the whole of the first album. The lyrics are very formatted like a normal pop song as to a dance track which i think made him stand out from the crowd.

Neon Rocks – I Created Disco album

Again this song has a very electronic feel to it and a sense of the eight bit computer games which really make it feel like a fresh take on the eighties. It is all down to the editing in the music and the off beat jingles throughout the song. A fun energetic song.

Stars Come Out – Ready For the Weekend Album

This album is a very good one through and through and really stands out as a fantastic one from Calvin Harris as all the songs are great and very unique in their own way. This song is catchy, has a great melody going through it and a fun bunch of lyrics to go with it.

Blue –  Ready For the Weekend Album

This song has a very subtle introduction into the song with acoustic guitars but as soon as the beat drops it is very different which makes it a very good album track. It feels a lot more ‘darker’ in the sense of the rhythm but that is a good thing. It is a really melodic song with a sense of emotion attached to it.

Mansion – 18 Months album

This album you can tell is one that was one of Calvins prime tracks because there are so many singles off of it. Also if you listen to this song and compare it to his older abums, not all songs have lyrics and if they do a lot of them are sung by celebrities – the change is coming to the Harris that you have heard in the older albums. This song has a catchy beat and is something you can imagine being in a club.

Awooga – 18 Months Album

I have definitely heard this song in a night club before, but it is not a single – it is one that needs to be listened to as it is really catchy and when the beat drops you will not be disappointed. It is very fun and if i remember rightly, I think LMFAO have sampled this on a track before.

Slow Acid – Motion album

This song has a really catchy undertone beat that intertwines throughout the whole song. It is catchy and a fun dance tune that oozes the world of Summer to it. Throughout the song it calms down to welcome in a new fluid beat and then drops the beat back in when you least expect it.

Overdrive –  Motion album

Overdrive is a dance track that is dark heavy and dirty and is everything right with a good dance track. The drops are right on cue and really give the listener exactly what they want and the bass interlude in the middle is a delight when it starts to build the track up again.

Holiday feat Snoop Dogg John Legend and Takeoff – Fun Wav Bounces Vol. 1

Yet again, Calvin releases an album and completely changes the style and format of the music that people relate to him as a DJ. This album just feels like summer with a lot of chilled out sounds and you can imagine sunsets and cocktails. This song is one of those songs that you can imagine listening to on a chilled out summers day.

Skrt On Me Feat Nicki Minaj – Fun Wav Bounces Vol. 1

This song yet again oozes of summer and that exotic feel that you wish that you had in the hot air. This has a lovely musical melody throughout the song and Nickis vocals really compliment the musical set up.
