Today we look at the music career of an actress who may of had a successful stint but also has only released one album to this date. Today we look at the music career of Gossip Girl actress Leighton Meester.

Back in 2009, she appeared on a single by the band Cobra Starship called ‘Good Girls Go Bad’ that went to number 7 in the Billboard 100 charts.  She released her first official single shortly after called Somebody To Love which featured Robin Thicke. She released her second single called ‘Your Love Is A Drug’ which was released in 2010. Leighton was meant to release an album with all this new music including songs written by people such as Jesse McCartney however it did not happen.

However this was not the end of all things music for Leighton instead she decided to go down a folk music route instead of a pop music genre and said in an interview that it was closer to her heart. In 2014 she released the single ”Heartstrings” which was also taken off of her debut album of the same name that was released in 2014 as well.

The album consisted of 9 songs that were all written by Leighton and released off of her own record label. The album debuted at number 1 on the Heatseekers album chart and she also did a tour across America to help promote it. The album was welcomed with lots of positive reviews.
