This week is a very special day for fans of Sci Fi because May the 4th has been known as Star Wars day for a very long time and if you are in Newcastle then you are in for a treat because this week Spontaneous Wrecks return to stage with their annual Star Wars themed show called The Laughs Jedi. The show takes place on the 2nd May at The Bridge Hotel in Newcastle from 8pm. I caught up with some of the young Jedi Jon to find out what makes a true Improv Master and what audiences have in store.
The force is strong with Wrecks – tell us about your up and coming show?
The FIRST ORDER reigns. Having decimated the peaceful Republic, Supreme Leader Snoke now deploys his merciless legions to seize military control of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
Only Spontaneous Wrecks’ band of RESISTANCE improvisers stand against the rising tyranny, certain that their audience will return and restore a spark of hope to the Bridge Hotel.
But the Resistance has been exposed. As the First Order speeds toward the venue, the brave heroes mount their most exciting show yet….
Will there be any appearances of people from the dark side?
Powerful dark – and powerful light. And between it all… balance.
Do you have any Star Wars themed games planned?
Of course we do! But you don’t have to be a Star Wars fan to enjoy it – there’s plenty of fun for everyone.
You do this show annually, What are highlights from the past shows?
Not this exact show, but yes! Our Star Wars show is normally one of the most entertaining nights of our year. Special costumed guests, video premieres, droid speak, Yoda speak, blue milk… it all happens on this night!
The big question – Will there be lightsabers?
Even if there aren’t, we’ll CG them in post-production.
What would your Jedi name be?
Obi-Jon Kenobi, of course!
In Wookiee talk describe to us how excited the audience should be about this show?
Ruuuuuuarrrrrarrr arrrragarrrargh rarrarrr ooorrrarrrruuuu.
Your favourite Star Wars film and why?
We all like different ones! But we can all agree on the brand new stories we make up at our shows.
What do you think about all the spin off films such as Solo, Yoda etc they have planned?
More Star Wars equals more inspiration for our own future shows!
Finally In three words why should people come to your show:
Peace and purpose.
And laughter.
That’s five words, sorry.
Blast it, now there are even more.
This is not going to go the way we think…
