Forgotten Pop! – This Week – Zoe Birkett

Today we look at a contestant from the first series of Pop Idol who may not of won but she did have a solo music career for a while. Before Pop Idol she auditioned for S Club 7 and was sadly unsuccessful and she was in the final 12 of the Pop Idol finalists. Today we look at the music career of Zoe Birkett.

Zoe Birkett did really well in the first season of Pop Idol and in 2002 she wasa the highest ranking female at position fourth. When she finished on the show she went on to be the support acts for Will Young and Gareth Gates tour.

A year later Zoe signed a recording contract with the record label 19 Recordings. The debut song that she released was written by fellow Pop Idol contestant Sarah Whatmore and was called ‘Treat Me Like A Lady.’ The single was released on 13th January 2003 and reached number 12 in the UK Charts. The song did not stay in the charts for very long and drifted down the charts very quickly. The fact that the song did not stay in the chart for very long meant that she was dropped by her record label.

Whilst she has not got a music career anymore she has been really successful in the West End performing in many shows. So let’s have a look at her music today.
