Today we look at the musical career of another boyband member of Blue. At one point or another, every member of the pop band have had a solo music career, we have already explored Anthony Costas and today we look at another member of the group. Whilst he may not of had a long solo career, he has had success as a television presenter and as Ryan Knight in Hollyoaks. Today we look at the solo career of Duncan James.
When Blue broke up, all members of Blue ventured into solo music careers – some of them happened straight away and then others happened a little bit down the line. Duncan’s solo career started at the end of 2004 when he collaborated on a song by Keedle called “I Believe In My Heart.” The song did really well and hit number 2 in the UK chart.
Not long after this single was released Duncan started to work on his solo album with one of the biggest names in the Industry – Stephen Lipson – who had produced huge hits for people such as Boyzone, Will Young and Ronan Keating.
The first single was released in 2006 and was called Sooner or Later – the single however did not do that well and only reached number 35 in the UK Charts. A week after the singles release, the album Future Past was released. The genre of the album was pop and swing and was the home to 13 songs. The album didn’t do very well – it entered the charts at number 55. More singles were released to try and boost the albums popularity – this included the single Can’t Stop A River but it sadly did even chart very well and only reached 59 in the UK charts.
His album only sold less then 15,000 in the UK and less then 150,00 worldwide. Due to the poor album sales his third single ‘Amazed’ was cancelled from release in the UK and was only released in Germany. The album did really well in Italy and sold more then 80,000 copies there peaking at number 2 on their album charts.
All is not lost with Duncan as he has had a very successful career with Blue and also now in the world of soaps. So lets have a look at his solo career today.
