Screen Shot 2018-02-15 at 13.50.11Sometimes, you want a book that you can snuggle up and read on a rainy day with a good cup of tea. A book that makes you feel instantly welcome and makes you feel like you are reading a book by a good friend – well this is one of those books. Spectacles A Memoir, written by comedian and a part of the television Duo Mel And Sue, is a book that is very easy to read, very easy to get into and will leave you walking away from it thinking what a lovely read.

The book by Sue Perkins delves into her life and the progression of her career and friendship with Mel Gierdroyc. It is very warm hearted with a lot of personality channeled through the written words of Sue Perkins. It has a lot of funny tales to explore and chuckle along to including when Mel and Sue Met, the tales of a dog, love and everything else in between.

If you are looking for a book by a down to earth person then this is one you most definitely want to read. If you are looking for a book that is an expose on The Great British Bake Off then this isn’t for you. It does discuss it but in a chapter that is all summarised and tide into a neat bow.
