CRYSTAL PEPSI
Today we look at a drink that was first sold in the USA in the early nineties and was taken away from the public eye as their competitor Coca Cola sabotaged the competition. Today we look at the world of Pepsi and the product Crystal Pepsi that was available for a limited time between 2015 -2017.
Back in the nineties, the idea of having a product as a clear thing was something that turned into a craze that everyone was doing to try and re-invent their products. Pepsi was one of the companies that tried to jump in on the craze and released the Crystal Pepsi – it was marketed as a caffeine free ‘clear alternative’ to other colas. The slogan that ran alongside with the product was ‘you’ve never seen taste like this’.
Jump to 2015 and Pepsi released an announcement on Twitter that fans could win one of 13,0000 six packs of the beverage by entering a competition through the mobile phone application. In 2016, the company brought back the Crystal drink in the USA for a limited time and was available through Amazon.com Prime Pantry service. The final time that it was made available was in 2017 when they would release the drink in Crystal themed music festivals held in baseball stadiums held around the US with performers Busta Rhymes and Salt-n-Pepa.
Did the drink that was around for limited time actually taste nice? Well, John was luckily enough to try it.
