The Travel Book – The Marriott, Gateshead, Newcastle, Tyne and Wear

When you go to a new part of the United Kingdom, you sometimes want a hotel that is full of pure comfort, quiet nights, comfy beds and close to shops and restaurants if you choose to eat near the hotel – well if you are going to Newcastle then this is one hotel that you should consider staying in on your next visit.

Just a short drive away from the centre of Newcastle, The Marriott Hotel is based at the Metrocentre, which means that it has fantastic transport links in the form of many busses and a train service. The hotel is home to a customer service that welcome you with a smile and make you feel incredibly welcome the whole time that you are there. There is also an array of amenities available for you when you are staying at the hotel including a swimming pool, a gym and restaurants and bars.

Now, what is the most important thing about any hotel visit? The room of course – the price of the rooms seem quite a good price for the North East and if you are looking for a hotel away from the hustle and bustle of the night life of the Toon then this is one hotel that you really need to consider. Whilst the hotel prices slightly rise on the weekend, the prices of the rooms can be justified when you walk through the door of your hotel room. I stayed their recently and was surprised at just how big the rooms are – they are a really nice size, with a good size bed, a nice set out bathroom and lovely smelling products for you to use.

If you are looking for a room with a view, then this is not the hotel for you because, it is in a shopping area so if you are looking one way out of the hotel you are going to see the huge yellow sign of Ikea staring you in the face.

What are the negatives of staying in this hotel? Well, if you are staying more then a few days and are travelling by public transport you may get a bit tired or bored of having to walk through the huge mall to get to the public transport all the time. If you like a lot of breeze or wind in the room you may find the rooms a tiny bit stuffy – they tend to be fine if you leave the air con on when you go out for the day but the cleaners can turn them off.

Overall. The Marriott Metrocentre is a really nice hotel, clean, friendly, comfortable and homely – definitely worth the visit.
