Lost In Music – A Song That You Like The Lyrics To

Welcome to this Months feature! Now, January is a time when it is the start of something new and everything fresh! With that means that people are always on the lookout for new music! Well, this feature may not bring you a lot of new music but it will welcome you into my world! Music is a huge part of my life – if i am not listening to it, i am playing my guitar or keyboard or even writing a post for this site (Off The Record).

So to start off 2018 I wanted to write about a topic I love and I came across this daily challenge so I thought why not turn it into an article! So here we go! Lets start this monthly feature – Lost in Music (You probably have that song stuck in your head now its by Sister Sledge)

A Song That You Like The Lyrics To: The Phoenix – Fall Out Boy

I think there is one thing that you will take away from this months feature and that is – I really really like music. I probably spend way too much time listening to music, or playing music or talking about music! Out of all the topics that I have spoken about i find this one of the hardest to choose a particular song. I eventually made my mind up and you will realise why later but lets deal with why I found this topic hard.

I have always been someone who loves people’s creativity and ways with words – that is why I write this site and that is why I write poetry. Lyrics to me have always been the strongest source of creativity I have completely and utterly admired. I love lyrics so much so I used to write down lyrics I loved from songs when I was a teenager at the back of my diary and I have pages of pages of lyrics in them that bring back happy memories.  I just adore lyrics and love powerful ones.

You many not know this, but this site was named after a lyric. I loved what the lyrics were and wanted to sort of pay respect to them. I liked what they resembled and it only felt right using this song as our final song of this feature. The song at hand is The Phoenix by Fall Out Boy and the lyrics are

“I’m going to change you like a Remix
Then I’ll raise you like a Phoenix”

You have probably realised that I moved the lyrics around a little bit but I liked the fact that I decided to play homage to this song. It was a song that I was listening to a lot at the time I started to write this site and I always found it quite uplifting. I liked the fact it was part of a set of videos that had a narrative and I liked the addictive melody of the song – all the things that tie into everything that I have told you about and what I enjoy.

I like to think in some ways that these two lyrics really sort of represent what I wanted to get out of The Pheonix Remix. I wanted to introduce people to comedy and msuci they may not have heard of before and welcome them into worlds they may not know existed (for example the improv community in the UK). By doing this I am metaphorically changing the tastes of readers but also at the same time I am not changing them too much I am opening their minds to enjoy comedy more and the metaphorically reasoning of raising you like a Phoenix.

See. I told you. Lyrics mean wayyyy too much to me then they probably do to you and i definitely think about them way too much.
