Today we look at an artist that really gave the whole of the UK a fever that they couldn’t get rid of in the mid naughtiest and that fever was none other then asking what time is it and waiting for the other person to shout CHICO TIME. Yes that’s right, today we look at the short and sweet music career Chico.

Back in 2005, Yousseph Slimani, famously known as Chico auditioned for the television show The X Factor – his audition made Simon Cowell storm out of the room as his fellow judges Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne allowed him through to the second round. He went through to the live finals being in Sharons group of Over 25s category. Over the time on the show he started to win voters over as he mellowed out his style. He was also the first ever contestant to approach the stage with his own song throughout the competition called “It’s Chico Time” which was written by the X Factor vocal coach Mark Hudson.

Although Chico didn’t win, he did make it through to the quarter finals (Shayne Ward won). It was not the last that we heard of this name. In February 2006, Chico released “It’s Chico Time” as a single and it reached number one on the charts. HIs next single was a cover of the famous hit D.I.S.C.O however he songs C.H.I.C.O instead. It only reached number 24 in the charts. The third single he released was “Curvy Cola Bottle Body” and only reached 45 in the charts. His debut album was called Lights Camera Action and was released in 2009.

Throughout his time both as a musician and in the limlight, he has also appeared on many television shows including The Weakest Link, Ant and Decs Saturday Night Takeaway, CelebAir and Nevermind The Buzzcocks. So lets spend the first week of 2018 celebrating this cheeky chappos career.
