24 Days of Christmas – Christmas Decorations

If there is one thing I absolutely adore about Christmas then its the decorations, especially the lights. The twinkle of the lights in the winter frost is something I adore seeing – it just makes the world a more magical place when there is lots of lights of different colors.

For the past seven years I haven’t really had that many christmas decorations at home because i have been away, i always make sure I add up tinsel or lights but nothimg immense as it won’t be up for very long.

Saying that, I love decorating at Christmas, I loved when I worked  at BBC Newcastle because the graphics cupboard which is where i was based became a massive christmas grotto. The girls of graphics, me, Jooles and Celina spent ages putting up all the tinsel lights and decorations and the final result was amazing it was so sparkly and beautiful it was like over loaded Christmas! (the other graphics work colleagues who arent that much of a fan of Christmas wasn’t that impressed).

When I have been abroad i have adored seeing the way other countries celebrate with decorations. Seville was amazing because they go above and beyond with their nativity scenes and people spend hundreds of Euros on moving donkeys and kings to put into their set – there is even a massive market in the centre of the town where all the stands are for nativities.

My favourite places abroad for christmas decorations has to be America – one of my favourite places that I have been in the States for Christmas decorations is Chicago – on the Navy Pier they have this fantastic indoor Christmas event that could give Christmas Town in Nightmare Before Christmas even a run for its money.

I love Christmas and the decorations really are something that can make you smile and feel even more jolly.
