Welcome to a brand new feature on the PR. Whenever you read or hear interviews people are always asked if you could have the perfect dinner party who would you invite living or dead. Well, i decided it was time to turn this into a feature but we are making it one step bigger – The perfect Extravagant Dinner Party, I will not just be picking the people I would want to have dinner with but the chefs and the entertainment as well!
I have given myself some ground rules – there are only 9 places available at the table to join me and there has to be a chef to represent each course and there should be only 4 acts allowed to provide entertainment.
At the table already is Donald O’Connor, so now it’s time to see who is going to be taking the seat
Next to him.

Dinner Guest 2 – Tom Delonge

Tom Delonge is basically my hero. I have been mocked for this a by a few friends in the past but I have a lot of good reasons for this even more so in recent years.
When I was growing up and I was a mid teenager I started listening to Blink-182 and really liked their music and started to listen to them a lot. I suppose the first inspiration came then as when I started to learn guitar I would use Blink songs to learn. I would use a lot do Green Day to learn chords but to push myself I would use Blink to learn how to play melodies. I remember spending hours learning the song carousel and Dammit properly.
When Blink-182 went on hiatus it made me very sad however when Angels and Airwaves came along I knew there would be hope. It took me a while to get used to the new sound but I ended up loving it – it took the second album to completely win me over.
To cut a long story short there are a lot of reasons why I find Tom such an inspiration. When everyone was angry at him or despised him because of breaking Blink he rose against it and produced what I think has ended up being some of his best work.
Even in recent years when he didn’t back down on his decision to return to Blink to make another comeback album I supported his decision – why? Because he wanted to try a dream and see if it worked – and luckily for him he has been able to make a comic book, actual books films and so much more.
I have experienced similarities as to when he left Blink the first time and the opinion only came from one side – college I fell out with one person who made my life hell. I didn’t give up though it made me stronger and made me the person i am today and rose above the mess.
I would love the opportunity to sit down and have a talk with someone who I find so inspiring – someone who didn’t give up when people laughed at him or became a figure of strength through negativity. He didn’t care that people laughed at the fact he loved aliens he rose above it and made his projects something magical. I probably will be very shy and not really know what to say but just hearing stories and the who way he went to achieve his dreams – thats what I would want to hear all about.
