Back in the late nineties Richard Bacon used to present Childrens Television show, Blue Peter. He got caught doing Cocaine and got fired. Since then he has had a successful career as a presenter and radio presenter.
There was a time when radio host and television presenter Richard Bacon delved into the world of stand up comedy. It wasn’t a long lived career, but at one point it was a potential career direction that could of happened and one that is worth mentioning.
Back in 2009, he decided to give stand up a go and did his debut gig at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Unlike most stand up comics debuts gig his was aired live on radio at BBC Radio Five Live.
The fifteen minute set saw him discuss topics such as his sacking at Blue Peter (without mentioning the cocaine) his home town of Mansfield and perils of being a minor celebrity.
The routine was met with mixed reviews, a lot of them was negative and there was a few positive but it lead to Richard deciding to not continue his career in that field.
