ALBUM REVIEW: Kesha – Rainbow

Screen Shot 2017-08-14 at 20.41.47It’s been five years since Kesha released her last album Warrior, and since then she has been through a three year legal battle with producer Dr. Luke about sexual assault. Last week, she returned to the music scene with a brand new album – Rainbow which was met with high anticipation from Kesha fans and music fans globally. This album was awaited by many to see what she was firstly going to release due to the ordeal and also the freedom she was finally given to release new material and for her to start rebuilding her career.

The album Rainbow has a very different feel to it compared to her back catalogue – it has a much more mature feel and does not have any silly songs on it like Dinosaur that if you are a Kesha fan you will remember well. There are many songs that stand out on the new album for being catchy and a musical delight to the ears here are a few:

Let em talk

This song has a Dance type theme with a great vocal that really proves how great Keshas voice actually is. The song has an  electronica type of feel and is definitely one of the highlights of the album.

Woman

This song was one of the first tracks to be released off of it and it is really catchy and one of those songs that when you hear it you won’t be able to get enough. It has really interesting lyrics and a great rhythm.

Hunt You Down

This has a real country feel to it but it is a nice song to listen to as it is catchy and a jolly little tune. It has a catchy chorus and will be a song that will be hard not to miss.

The album is very different to her older material and whilst the songs are good with a more guitar and country feel, some fans may find it difficult to get used to the new sound. The lyrics of the new material are powerful and it really highlights what has happened in the last lot of years. If you werent a fan of Keshas material before you may be now.

Listenability Rating – 7/10 – good music but a very different sound.
