The Travel Book – Wimborne, Dorset

If you find yourself in Dorset and want to visit a quaint little town with a lot of lovely cafes, lovely markets and a few quaint tourist attractions then Wimborne is the place that you need to visit for a day trip.

Now, Wimborne isn’t the biggest of places but it somewhere that you should consider visiting as it is filled with lots of cute little shops and some great cafes that provide a great selection of tea and cake. One of the things that Wimborne is renowned for is its markets and these are every weekend on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They sell a variety of local produce and also have a car boot sale some days too.

On the edge of the town is a Model Village which really is worth going to as it is really worth a visit. The prices range from £6 up and it is really fun walking through the miniature town, looking in the windows and the church seeing what the locals are up to. The model village is based on what the town looked like in the 1950s.

Even though Wimborne isn’t very big, it does hold an annual festival each year, The Folk Festival. Around the first weekend of June it plays homage to music, comedy and family fun activities and the town comes alive. In October it also plays the home to a Food Festival where the streets are filled with stalls of delicious foods and drinks.
