The hardest thing about this next blog post was trying to come up with a name as I was trying to think of a title that would sum up some of the topics I am going to talk about in this weeks A Little Thing Called Comedy and this was the best I could come up with.
I said last week that I had no ambition to do stand up on stage as I think that to be honest I would probably suck but when I think of random stuff that has happened throughout life I suppose I have some stories to tell that could be funny for an audience.
I have never been shy of the stage, since a young age I have always been happy to perform on stage and also make an idiot of myself if I need to. I have already mentioned in the A little Thing Called Music section that there are many a times that I have performed silly comedic songs on stage to entertain certain audiences and will go all out if I have to. I am not afraid to play the fool on stage if I have to and I suppose that is a good trait to have if I did decide to go into stand up, it is a good one to have for improv but this post will not be about that as I talk on a weekly basis about improv in the Improv Diaries.
I went away after writing last weeks post thinking could I actually do stand up and thought about certain things that have happened over the years that could create some classic content so I will share with a few of those things with you here.
Being knocked out by a Mannequin

not THE actual Mannequin discussed.
Yes this has happened to me and everytime I have told someone the story it has crated laugher so that is getting off to a good start I suppose. I was in a shop and walked past a little girl pulling on the dress of a mannequin and the next thing I know I am lying on the floor and wondering where I am.
The Diaries
Between the ages of 13 to 18 I kept a diary – yes thats right I have nearly every single day of my teen years written down in books. If that doesnt create material I don’t know what would as it is all mainly about the crushes and madness of school.
Dating
This is always an area that provides huge comedy in stand up shows and if I was going to do stand up it would def be an area that would provide material.
I still believe that for me, stand up will never be on the cards, I will just leave it for the professionals to keep doing it. I enjoy watching certain comedians on stage as the comedy timing and humour is fantastic. When I was editing for ComComedy, I used to watch a lot of stand up and become aware of new up and coming comedians… but more about that later on in the blogs….
There are many television shows that introduce comedians to the world such as Live at the Apollo etc but I find the show Russell Howards Stand Up Central is a fantastic source now in watching new comedians. Unlike some shows, you get a support act set and these aren’t very long which is a great way to get a taster as to what new comedians are coming our way and the style that is starting to become popular. So I will leave this weeks post with a video of a stand up that I quite enjoyed watching the other week on Russell Howards show, Ivo Graham.
