The Best Comedian Autobiographies part 2

Last week we discussed some of the best autobiographies written by comedians that you should buy or loan from the library to start reading. There are so many more good reads out there here are 4 more books to add to your reading list.

Lee Mack – Mack The Life

Up to his normal jokes

Up to his normal jokes

I am currently 3/4 of the way through this book and really enjoying it that I felt it deserved a place on the list. It’s easy to read and you get into it straight away. It is written in the same comedy style of Lees that you would expect in Not Going Out and as a panelist on would I Lie To You. He goes to a psychiatrist to analyse the book as the reader finishes each chapter there is a funny conversation between him and the woman’s reaction to his book.

Readability Rating – 8/10

David Mitchell – Back Story

Be prepared for Robert Webb appearances

Be prepared for Robert Webb appearances

Sticking on the panelists of would I Lie To You theme, David Mitchell’s autobiography is worth a read as well. If you are a fan of Mitchell’s middle class humour and sarcastic wit, then you will really like this book as it is written in the same sort of style. Also, the style of the book is cleverly written. David goes on a walk around London and whenever he passes somewhere that has a memory of his youth it will link into that chapter of his life which makes it a joy to read.

Readability Rating – 7/10
Jack Dee – Thanks For Nothing

Moaning of Life

Moaning of Life

Moody, moany and sarcastic. No i am not just describing Jack Dee, I am actually describing the humour that makes him great and so entertaining and his book is no different. If you want to get behind the mask of the man that is so well known for, well, moaning, then this is the book for you as it has an entertaining charm you just wont get in other autobiographies.

Readability Rating – 7/10

Mindy Kaling – is everyone hanging out without me?

Be prepared for some great stories

And finally one across the pond. Famous for being a writer and starring in the Office US and also writing and being the lead role in the television sitcom, The Mindy Project. If you are looking for a comical autobiography written in the style of a girl who obviously, like her character in MP loves a good comedy film or rom com then you will love this book. Whilst it may not mention a lot about romance it is very entertaining and there is a second book called Why Not Me? which ahs been released recently.

Readability Rating – 5.5/10
