Sparks of rumours have been flying left right and center this week that Will Smith is apparently working on a 21st century reboot of the much loved sitcom, The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air. Apparently, Will Smith’s production company called Overbrook Entertainment, is in the very early stages of bringing the show back to life.
According to rumours, the reboot is going to put a different look on the ‘fish out of water’ story and give it a modern day look and feel. The show is set to have completely different characters, so it sadly will not be a continuation of the original..so no Tom Jones and Carlton dancing then sadly.
Both Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith will work as Executive producers on the show, which definitely lies to rest those other rumours of the pair divorcing. The original show ran from 1990 to 1996 and was the big push in making Will Smith what he is today. It was based around a fictionalised character version of Will Smith and follows him as he moves in with his rich aunt and uncle in their Bel Air mansion.
It is not the only pat Will Smith project that Overbrook Entertainment are working on. They are currently working with Fox to produce a spin of television show from the 2005 film called Hitch.
