All this month we are speaking to rising star Sandy Netburn. All the way from the state of New York, she is only eighteen and is ready to take on the music industry head first. She already has released a lot of tracks and is ready for the adventure! Today we talk about the debut album Issues.

Tell us about your new album Issues?
Issues is my very first album, done all acoustic, with songs I wrote in my last few years of high school. These are some of the very first songs I’ve ever written, and I think it’s a lot of fun!
Where did the inspiration for the name come from?
It’s based on the song “I’ve Got Issues” and the trials and tribulations of being a teenager… AND all of the hardships (and silliness) in this story we call life.
How long did it take to write and record?
Well, I wrote the first two or three songs one year, and then the rest of them the following year… so it was kind of oddly spread out, as I was just learning to write! The recording process took, probably a couple of weeks. I recorded it once… and wasn’t thrilled… and then re-recorded the whole album.
What is the main theme of the album?
The album expresses the many “Issues” a person faces in this life… the emotional ones, the political ones, the humorous ones, too!
What was the most tricky thing about recording the track?
It was difficult for me to record the guitar and vocals separately… I’m so used to feeling the vibe of each component while I’m doing both of them together, so it was definitely a very different experience than when I normally play live.
How do you feel on the release day of a new album?
Well, this was my first – and I was just thrilled. We released it on my 18th birthday, and I felt all the love, all the excitement… It was truly amazing.
Which song are you most looking forward to performing live?
I LOVE performing “Like the Government Does” live. That’s the one I get to coerce the audience into singing with me… okay, maybe not coerce… well, ok maybe a little bit…
How have your fans reacted to the album?
They have been so supportive and I think they’re really enjoying it! These songs are a blend of my thoughts, questions, emotions, and sense of humor – many of the things I explore in my regular, silly social media posts.
What is your favourite lyric on the album?
Man, my favorite lyric!? I think it’s, “Being made just a little uncomfortable is the only kind of thrill that’ll last.”
For those who are new to your music, where can they find you on social media?

Finally, three words on why people should listen to your new album?
Emotional, cerebral, and satirical.
