The Love Of Music – INTERVIEW – Elisa Smith

All this month we are doing a special interview with bands to celebrate things they love. Today we are speaking to Elisa Smith about fantastic things.

What is an album that you love that you could listen to on repeat?

What a hard question! I’ll give you my top 5 in no particular order. Black Pumas (self-titled)Time (The Revelator) by Gillian Cosmic Selector, Volume 1 by Lord Huron, Tearing at the Seams by Nathanial Rateliff, Clarity by Jimmy Eat World

Your favourite quote from a film?

“Don’t f**** with the baby-sitter” (Adventures in Babysitting). I was devastated when Disney re-released this ‘80s classic and changed that iconic line!

What instrument that you own is your favourite and why?

The guitar that was a gift from Garth Brooks. It’s not my favorite because he gave it to me. It’s my favorite because it represents my rebirth as an artist. It’s a constant reminder to be courageous and take risks.

What is something you love about touring / playing shows?

The people and all the wonderful musical surprises. No two shows are exactly alike. I love being delighted by wonderful moments of musical magic – a solo that hits harder than ever before or an unexpected harmony. That’s what keeps it fun!

What food is your guilty pleasure?

Ice cream – but I never feel guilty eating anything!

What is a television show that is your comfort blanket that you turn to on a rainy day?

Time Team – it’s a British Archeology show. What can I say, I’m a giant nerd.

A superpower that you would love to have?

I would LOVE to read people’s thoughts. How interesting that would be and what great songwriting inspiration would come from that!#Who

Who is a band / artist that you love and feel is highly underrated?

I think Miranda Lambert is VASTLY underrated. She’s an incredible songwriter and has shown such strength and poise through all everything the industry has thrown at her. I know she’s a big act, but she should not be opening for Morgan Wallen… he should be opening for her!

Describe your perfect day?

Sleep in, 5-mile hike, Coffee and record shopping/thrifting, delicious lunch somewhere, Yoga class, Massage/facial, Dinner and cocktails somewhere fancy. Head to a friend’s show (or my own) and dance!
