For The Love Of Film – Day 14 – Unveiling The Statue

Everyday this month we are looking at different songs from different films that I love and feel that they deserve their time to shine in the limelight. They are all bits of music that I love and I wanted to talk about them more in depth so that maybe you the reader can have similar experiences and understand why I like them.

Song From Soundtrack: Unveiling The Statue – Charlie Chaplin
Film:  City Lights
Year: 1931

When the creation of film first came around, music was such an important element. It was the key way that a story was told and emotion was depicted via the way the instruments were played. It is really inspiring looking at the old films and I had to include one on this list as it is so important to.

I found it hard to chose a song as there are so many I love but I decided on The Unveiling of the statue from City Lights as it was the first silent move I watched and the first piece of music I heard.

Silent Movie music is a little rough around the edges when you listen to it nowadays but it still holds up with how effective it is. I adore the way this track has so many different tempo changes to tell the story of falling asleep on a statue and then trying to get off it. It creates the beats for the humour and that is why I would recommend a watch.
