New Album Deep Dive – INTERVIEW –Hot Stuff, The Chuck Norris Experiment

Welcome to a feature where we sit down and talk to bands and artists about their latest albums to find out all about it. Today we speak to Chuck from The Chuck Norris Experiment to find out about the album Hot Stuff.

Hello nice to meet you, tell us about yourself!

Hello! Nice to meet you too! Chuck Buzz here from the Chuck Norris Experiment. I’m the drummer alongside my fellow band mates Chuck Ransom (vocals), Chuck the Ripper (lead guitar), Chuck Daniels (guitars), Chuck Rooster (guitars) and Chuck Dakota (bass guitar). Been around for +20 years in this band which still kicks ass within the rock scene around the world.

Tell us about the new album?

It’s the 3 chapter of the HOT STUFF albums which features 13 tracks, both covers and original CNE songs recorded during the last couple of years, unreleased ones, B-sides and rarities. Available from Ghost Highway Recordings and Chaputa Records. It’s a damn good piece of vinyl filled with action, sweat and loudness. Hot stuff.

Favourite track in new album and why?

Having many of course, most of them originate from favourite bands, but if I have to chose one I will go for our own track “Habit to support” since it is a highly energized piece with a smart build and a really fun one to play live – a true groovy audience killer.

Tell us a bit about the recording process, was it fun to do?

Sure, as always is entering the studio with the band. It’s a great feeling to focus together. We prepare well before-hand, so that everyone knows the songs to be recorded extremely well – this give us the flexibility to change and arrange around the core structure if needed and save us time in the studio. It works really well and everyones input is crucial when we’re deciding the settings of the sound, levels and atmosphere.

What inspired the album name?

HOT STUFF III – it’s just hot stuff, hotter than hot stuff is hard to get.

Tell us the idea behind the album cover?

It’s a recurring idea with our winged skull spreading the true rock’n’roll vibe – the artwork is designed by our German friend STE who’s been with us since the “Right between the eyes” album back in 2014.

What one of your songs on the new album do you think will the most difficult to rehearse for a live audience?

Not sure, we do rehearse songs from the album still quite often so I don’t have a worry at all to play any of those ones live – we often arrange songs to make them fit with other ones in sets – it could be shortening intros or fusing songs together. But still – songs need to fit within the set and the circumstances around the show to allow for the best possible live show.

Why should people listen to the album?

For one simple reason – it’s a bunch of party songs dressed and painted with the true CNE sound – loud and passionate action rock. It’s an album to come back to whenever the dark reality hits you and your energy levels are low – I promise it will make a difference!
