Ones To Watch 2026 – INTERVIEW – Woodhawk

All this month we are celebrating acts that you need to look out for in 2026. Today we speak to Turner from the band Woodhawk about 2025 being the best year ever and taking it slower in 2026.

Hello, tell us all about yourself?

My name is Turner, and I play guitar and sing in Woodhawk. We are a rock band based out of Calgary. Been around for 11 years now!

How was 2025 for you?

It has been great! Our best year ever. We have gotten to do so much and have had some crazy experiences so far.

What were the top 3 highlights for you?

Putting out our new album, Love Finds a Way, was definitely a highlight. We waited a long time for this album to come out, and it has been our best-received album to date. Super validating and an awesome accomplishment. We also had a very successful Canadian tour. You never know if people will forget about you or even care after all these years. But for us, it was the opposite; it grew during the downtime. Largest crowds to date, and everyone was so into it. To round out 3 highlights, I’d say Dallas Green and the dudes from Comeback Kid showing up at our album release in June in Calgary. That was a cool thing to look over and see those Canadian legends at our show!

What was the key lesson you learnt from last year?

Patience. All things come in good time. Just take your time, be patient, and let it happen. You can’t wait forever for anyone to make things happen for you, but you have to be patient as you manage it yourself. It will happen. Just let it be.

What are your plans for 2026?

Next to nothing, haha! 2023-2025 have felt so busy. From recording in 2023, 10-year anniversary shows in 2024, and then the new album this year. We have just felt like we have always been moving or doing something for the past couple of years. We are looking forward to a little break and a pause. I am sure we will tour again next fall, and we’ll still jam, because we love hanging out. But as of right now, we are planning to take some rest.

What other shows are you looking forward to watching this year?

Nothing really. We saw Creed in August, as the longest-running inside joke in our band, and that was it.

What styles do you hope to see more of in music this year?

More comradery. Bands helping bands is just the best way to make it all go round. It’s not a competition, it’s a community.

Who is your band/musician that is your one to watch in 2026 and why?

Better Lovers. We love this band, and they are just blowing up. Rightfully so. It’s a perfect supergroup of hardcore, metal, and rock. I’m always excited to see what they put out next.

Do you have any New Year’s resolutions? If so, what are they?

No, not big ‘resolution’ guys. I don’t need a new year to be why I have to change something. I just changed it if it needs changing.

Are you on social media? If so, how can people find out more about you?

You bet! @woodhawkriffs for everything

Three words why people should come and see you this year?

Maybe this year!
