All this month we are celebrating acts that you need to look out for in 2026. Today we speak to band Arrows Of Athena who had an eventful 2025 and this year is going to be a really exciting one.
Hello tell us all about yourself?
Scott Lerner: We’re Arrows of Athena, an alternative/indie rock band, in the original spirit of both of those labels. We tend to favor dance or even disco beats, synths, guitars and we have an amazing female vocalist. I can say this since I’m not the one singing, which no one needs to hear. We are based in Southern New Hampshire and Northern Massachusetts.
How was 2025 for you?
Lerner: It was eventful in so many ways, we worked on our second album Daydreaming throughout the year and can’t wait to release it. We both had some personal challenges, but overall it was a good year for me.
Jac-Lyn Gibson: Last year was a good one! I spent it working on Daydreaming with Scott, we even fit in a few band practices which was awesome and on a personal note, my older son graduated high school in June.
What were the top 3 highlights for you?
Lerner: Well, we have to say recording Daydreaming was a ton of work, but it’s fun and what keeps us sane. Personally, watching my kids continue to grow and become even more of who they are as people. My wife Jill and I celebrated our 23rd anniversary; it may not be a milestone anniversary but every year is one to me.
Gibson: As I mentioned, my son’s high school graduation was a big highlight of the year. There is something bitter sweet when your oldest hits that milestone. A close second is celebrating a wedding anniversary this past May. It has been 22 years for me and my husband Larry. Being able to end the year with releasing our first single off of Daydreaming, November’s “Abandoned Love,” well that is going to be the cherry on top!
What was the key lesson you learnt from last year?
Lerner: Patience in everything, this album was a lot and no matter how proud of it we are, it’s still a lot. This isn’t how we sustain ourselves financially and the time commitment is a lot. Plus we both have families, so fitting it all in is a challenge at times. Jac and I continue to work on our working relationship too. We have spent time learning to express our feelings on how we think something should operate for us as a band. We’re lucky that there are only two of us and that neither of us is an a******.
Gibson: Patience, resilience, and letting s*** go that doesn’t matter at the end of the day. I am getting to the point in my life where I am coming to terms with accepting all of the good, the bad and the wrinkles (I mean ugly! ha!) in life and learning to embrace the uncertainties and imperfections we are faced with every day.
What are your plans for 2026?
Lerner: Really getting Daydreaming out there to as many people as we can. Also getting our live band as good as we can and playing some shows finally! We also want to start working on the followup to Daydreaming later in the year.
Gibson: I think it would be great to have some live shows and of course, the full album release of Daydreaming.
What other shows are you looking forward to watching this year?
Lerner: The only thing on the docket for me in 2026 so far is The Hives; I’ve never seen them and it should be a blast.
Gibson: I keep hearing that Radiohead might be playing the states in the upcoming year! I’ve seen them twice but now that my kids are blasting them from their bedrooms I would LOVE to see them as a family. My husband and I love going to live shows together and seeing Radiohead as a family, well that would be amazing!
What styles do you hope to see more of in music this year?
Lerner: Music is so all over the place stylistically these days, and I love that. There is a ton of genre mixing going on and I guess I hope to keep seeing that. We’re always mixing things in that maybe wouldn’t seem to make sense, but we like to be adventurous.
Gibson: I love that music is now incorporating a lot of the ‘90s beats and melody hooks that we got so used to hearing from that generation. I am here for it being a ‘90s kid myself.
Who is your band / musician that is your ones to watch in 2026 and why?
Lerner: Man, I don’t even know. I’m pretty psyched to see that Sugar got back together, I never expected that. Here’s hoping they add more shows to the tour. I like seeing that Black Rebel Motorcycle Club started touring again, I hope they record a new album.
Gibson: I am obsessed with Royel Otis at the moment and so sad I missed them play in Boston this month!!
Do you have any new years resolutions? If so, what are they?
Lerner: I generally don’t make them, I’ll just end up breaking them anyway.
Gibson: Just to try and do better than last year.
Are you on social media? If so how can people find out more about you?

Three words why people should come and see you this year?
