The festive period is here and there are so many shows that are available for audiences to go and watch! Over the next few weeks, we will be talking to lots of different shows and performers about what they have in store for this time of year! Today we find out all the show Beauty and the Beast: A Horny Love Story from Matt Kennedy. This adult only Christmas show is happening between now and the 11th January at the Charing Cross Theatre in London.

What is the show that you are bringing to the stage in this Festive season?

Beauty and the Beast: A Horny Love Story. It’s a big bright and very gay pantomime but strictly for adults only!

Tell us all about the character that you play?

I play Bertie, an inexperienced-in-love mummy’s boy looking for more out of life. He’s the Belle of our story, if Belle was a Disney gay.

Will there be a bit of festivity in your show?

Yes, my character absolutely loves Christmas Day and wants to have the perfect Christmas, in spite of finding himself taken prisoner by a grumpy but sexy beast who won’t eat turkey. And we’ve got all the panto traditions. So expect lots of festive fun. 

What are your favourite things about the festive season and why?

I love shopping for presents, I love the decorations in the streets, the food, the Christmas TV, a chunky knit and the general festive feel. Oh and when it snows!

This time of year the venues tend to be a bit busier as well – do you find that the audience changes at all?

The audience at this time of year is generally more up for a good time…after a few mulled wines. And everyone loves pantomime cos it takes them back to their childhood. 

What advice would you give for people performing around the festive season?

Get a cold and flu jag! Look after yourself. The Christmas schedule of shows can be very demanding. 

What is the best thing about a night at your show for the audience?

Great songs and dances and lots and lots of laughs from very rude, very stupid and very gay jokes!
