Today’s Featured Artist – INTERVIEW – Ask Carol

Tell Us about:

Your latest single you have released:

Cold July is the last single from our upcoming second album. It’s a song inspired by things happening in the world, by activists like Greta Thunberg, and having  to deal with it all as a young person. «Cold July» is our first ever acoustic song, a new, but exciting,  territory for us.

Your favourite lyric in this song:

Kids are marching in the streets again

‘Cause you’re pulling us closer to the end

And oh my god

Are you leaving us here to die?

Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:

Good question. At the moment I think that must be Control You from our debut album by the  same name. This is the biggest production we’ve done so far, with a lot of interesting things going  on.

Your favourite song to play live:

That would be Tonight, because it’s uptempo and energetic and always gets the crowd  going. We improvise a lot, it’s got looping, grooves and guitar solos, it’s so much fun to  play!

The song that was the longest to write and why?

So, there’s been songs that were finished in a few hours and there’s been songs that took months of  back and forth. It’s hard to say which took the longest, but one that had a long process was Wind In  My Hair. Not necessarily the writing of it, but the production, and the fact that we worked on it in  short sessions in between long tours may have had an impact.

Your most emotional track:

Oh, many of our tracks are very emotional. I want to say our last single, Cold July, is one of the  top ones, as it is such a serious underlying issue. Not emotional per se, but with the seriousness of  it, comes the emotions.

Dream collaboration:

Actually I think we write best only us together. But of course, collaborating with Jimi  Hendrix for sure would have been a dream, haha

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:

Well, one feeling is: I hope the equipment don’t fail me now (again)

But, yeah, seriously, we both still get nervous before shows. But as we are a completely DIY duo,  doing everything ourselves, sometimes we have so much to do all the way up to the very point we  start playing, that we don’t even have time to think about that we are actually going on stage to  play, haha.

The hardest track to play live:

Depends on the sound guy. If the sound guy sucks and gives us bad monitoring, the looping songs  will be nearly impossible. Following a looped guitar you can’t hear, playing trombone without  sound, it’s pretty damn hard. For us our shows sometimes becomes a question of how do we deal  with this catastrophic monitoring situation, you know.

Essential items you always take on tour with you?

Laptop and headset, gotta work you know, tours ain’t booking themselves

Describe your fans in three words:

An eclectic mix

A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:

There are so many good songs out there! I’d rather enjoy listening to them, than have written them,  haha. If I’d had written them I wouldn’t have been able to enjoy them the same, as it’s not really the  same listening to ones own songs. So, I don’t really wish I’d written anything else. I admire their  talents and their works.

What we can look forward to from your band tin 2026:

We had our very first London show in November. Our second album came out as well, AC II: Desert Sky. It is so exciting to finally show you all what we’ve been working on lately.
