Welcome to the feature where we ask musicians or bands five really tough questions about music! Today I speak to musician Rhiannon Raine of the band The Fool’s Agenda who have recently released the single “Dumb (Take Me Out)” and are set to release a brand new album this month Today I ask Rhiannon some tough questions.
What is the hardest lyric you have ever had to write and why?
I would say the whole bridge of 2023 single “All My Ghosts” was incredibly hard to write, but the most nerve wracking line to put out into the world was “Bought myself a brand new couch / Erase the memory of it all”, because it addressed a really specific and messy situation with my former roommates that we still, to this day, have never reconciled. It was the first time I had ever written so blatantly about a specific situation where the people involved would know I was talking about them.
What is the weirdest gift or compliment a fan has given you?
Luckily most of our fans are super cool; I think the weirdest thing anybody’s said to me is an older man told me I had a nice throat. Not my voice, my actual throat.
Who is the best band or musician you have had the pleasure to share the stage with?
That’s so hard, we’ve played with so many fantastic musicians. The band we’ve shared the stage most with is Club 9 Ball, who are some of our really good friends. We went on tour together earlier this year, and they’ve been doing some really cool stuff in the heavy rock sphere.
What one of your songs has been the most difficult to rehearse for a live audience?
For me, it’s “Dumb (Take Me Out)” – I use a megaphone on it and the volume levels in the rehearsal room are never the same as onstage.
Dream Collaboration and why ?
I think I’m speaking for at least three-fourths of the band if I say Paramore – we all love them, I’ve loved them since I was a little kid, and I think we match up a lot in terms of energy, sound, and being willing to experiment with sound to get your message across.
