Welcome to a feature where we sit down and talk to bands and artists about their latest albums to find out all about it. Today we speak to Alfonso Civile from the band Heartsick about the album Break The Curse.
Hello nice to meet you, tell us about yourself!
Hello! My name is Alfonso Civile, and I am the lead singer of the band Heartsick which is based out of Lansing, MI. U.S.A.
Tell us about the new album:
Well, we have a lot of new songs which we have slowly been releasing but, we have so many new songs that we are going to pull a System of a Down and release two new records 6 months apart with a lot of awesome extra Goodies. The plan is to print the record on vinyl and give fans a chance to be a part of the artwork for the records.
Favourite track in new album and why?
I think now my favourite track from what this new record will be. The song is called Break the Curse which is out on all streaming platforms. I really believe in the lyrical content for the song. We are not having enough discussions on why bands in our positions are struggling to find representation and a good support system with professionals in the industry. It feels like a curse.
Tell us a bit about the recording process, was it fun to do?
Recording for these new records was fun and time consuming. We have spent the last 4 years writing so many types of songs and every time was a new experience and a new way to approach writing.
What inspired the album name?
The album names will be Break the Curse and God Machine, and both come from lyrics in songs found on this record. Break the Curse is inspired by our idea of underground bands breaking through the gates of the system. God Machine is a nod to AI and where the world may be going.
Tell us the idea behind the album cover?
For these records the album covers will be very plain but we wanted our fans to make the artwork per say, so with a donation to help fund these records, our fans will be able to have their personal signatures as some of the artwork to the record.
What one of your songs on the new album do you think will the most difficult to rehearse for a live audience?
Great question, I think that would probably be a song named Honey. A lot of crazy stuff happening in that one.
Why should people listen to the album?
I think people need to listen to these albums because we really are something all onto our selves and because there is a story here for all types of folks that they can connect with.
