Tell us about:
Your favourite joke you have created:
Ooh that’s a tough one! Probably a story I tell about a time I weighed myself at the home of a boy I had gone on a date with.
Your favourite venue to perform at:
There are so many great venues but probably The Bill Murray in London has to be up there. It’s just full of friendly, comedy loving hot people.
The joke that was the longest to write and why?
I have a joke about gender reveals that just kept growing and growing so now it’s a five minute bit. I just kept thinking of more stuff to say, and having so much fun with it!
Comedy hero:
Oh I mean there are so many but recently I’ve been feeling incredibly inspired by Jaqueline Novak, she is so incredibly articulate and fizzing with ideas and I truly covet the way her brain works.
Dream venue to play at:
A prohibition bar in New York in the 20s with a cigarette, a stiff drink and the threat of apprehension from the law.
Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:
I’m a bit nervous, although nothing awful, and my mouth is made of chalk and sand. But when I get up there everything relaxes and my brain wakes up and I’m full of energy. It’s the ultimate adrenaline hit even after years of doing it.
The hardest joke to perform and why:
I have a comedy song that I perform whilst wearing an adhesive mustache. But almost every time I do it, I inhale a microscopic fibre from the mustache, and it irritates my throat throughout the whole song. I’ve started to have a Pavlovian response to the mustache, and I take short, shallow breaths to try to mitigate the asphyxia.
Essential items you always take on tour with you?
I have not yet been on tour! However in my ‘show bag’ are throat sweets, chewing gum, Chapstick, a diet coke and a Twirl. Possibly a book that I will read performatively, a cardigan, Uno, and some socks.
Describe your fans in three words:
Hot queer angels
What we can look forward to from you this year:
Hopefully loads! International travel, touring, online content, more poetry, a snatched waist, a boyfriend, a show coming to a town near you, a little kiss on the forehead! The possibilities are endless!
