There is always a story behind a photograph and I thought it would be a fun way to look at the world of travel. So, welcome to the feature that will appear regularly in the travel section.
If there is one thing that I absolutely adore then it is a sunset. They are so beautiful and in can sometimes be very dramatic. My favourite place to see a sunset is over the sea and what better places to see one then from a cruise ship. There is something wonderful seeing them in the middle of the ocean and weirdly makes you feel connected to nature.
I think this sunset was taken between Spain and North Africa on or around Christmas Day. That could also add to the reason why I find this sunset incredibly special.
The thing that I like about this photo is the drama – the way that the sunbeams pierce through the clouds and creates so much wonder to the photo that is brings back the same feeling I had at the time – breathless.
The darkness of the sea gives more power to the sunset and creates this strong image. I love the bold bright sun and the colours that appeared from the sunset. It is bold, the orange colours and the yellow beams create these wonderful flares. There is a tiny bit of blue in the top right corner which also creates this sense of wonder as it allows your eyes to focus on the bright beams.
It is a wonderful image, it brings back so many lovely memories or travel. It also brings back that feeling I got of feeling amazed by its beauty and it was definitely one of the best I have seen to date.
