Welcome to the feature where we ask musicians or bands five really tough questions about music! Today I speak to Kasper Of Doll who have recently released the new album Better Days, Different Times. Today we ask them some tough questions.
What is the hardest lyric you have ever had to write and why?
Goodbye was definitely the hardest and most emotional song I’ve ever written. My mother passed away 15 years ago, and it is still very hard for me to talk about. She committed suicide, and I never really had the chance to say goodbye. When a family member passes away like that, it leaves you with an incredible sense of guilt that you can’t get over. Goodbye was written as my homage to her, a great mother that I miss dearly every day.
Who is the best band or musician you have had the pleasure to share the stage with?
We’ve been lucky to have played with some incredible artists, Three Days Grace, Lacuna Coil, Brode Dalle of Spinerette, Die Mannequin, and Genitorturers. My favorite was Halestorm. Not only are they incredibly talented, but what struck me is how kind and down-to-earth they are. I’m super proud of what they have achieved; they deserve it.
What one of your songs has been the most difficult to rehearse for a live audience?
Our clean ballads are definitely the hardest to rehearse and play live. Our equipment is geared towards a live punk metal show, and so are most of the venues we play. It is just really hard to make the transition. I remember once we played Sleeping in the Clouds of NYC live, and the acoustic guitar had major feedback in the monitors, and it just made it too hard to get through.
Dream Collaboration and why ?
I have so many artists I would love to collaborate with. Courtney Love, L7, and Babes in Toyland were definitely my idols growing up. Stevie Nicks is a legend, and Poppy is another newer artist that I hope continues her meteoric rise.
