We are speaking to acts that are performing at the Aberdeen Comedy Festival which takes place between 22nd September to 5th October 2025. Today we are speaking to Marchel Lucont who has a two shows on at the festival – Marcel Lucont’s Whine List on the 3rd October at 8:45pm and Marcel Lucont Les Enfants Terribles which is on the 4th October at 2pm. I spoke to Marcel to find out all about them.
How did you come up with the name of your show that your taking to Aberdeen?
Knowing that the British cannot resist a pun I cynically implanted this device into both shows. Additionally one of them is in French, to sift out ignorance.
Tell us a little bit about your style of show?
Both involve me utilising the public for personal and financial gain. In Les Enfants Terribles I use people’s children to entertain adults (while also proving to those adults they probably made the wrong life choice), in Whine List I use people’s woes and past problems to entertain myself.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing?
I am only in town for my own shows – I am considerably in demand elsewhere – I shall most likely spend the hours in between sat in Café Bohème, writing up my observations of your city and its people.
What is the best thing about performing in Aberdeen?
The last time I performed in Aberdeen 10 years ago I planned to arrive with enough time to take in the surroundings and form an opinion of the city to then convey to the awaiting audience. However, the train providers had differing plans to me and I ended up arriving around an hour later than the time I was due to be on stage. The thirsty patrons waiting for me made use of this extra time in a predictably Scottish manner and I was welcomed to the stage with the bellowing usually reserved for battles against the English. I wish I could say their focus matched their volume, but that would be untrue.
Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?
For Les Enfants Terribles, a child so awful it verges on Satanic, thereby allowing me to prove my point.
For Whine List, someone who has been unlucky in love, work and travel – although preferably not in such tragic ways I can’t mine them for comedy without the audience turning.
And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?
Pourquoi pas, hein?
