Every Sunday we are taking a look at the world of books. I read a lot and always want to share my opinions on what I read, so I thought it would be fun to write reviews. Today we are looking at a book from the early 1900’s.
Anne of Green Gables (1908)
L. M. Montgomery
Synopsis
Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert are in for a big surprise. They are waiting for an orphan boy to help with the work at Green Gables but a skinny, red-haired girl turns up instead. Feisty and full of spirit, Anne Shirley charms her way into the Cuthberts’ affection with her vivid imagination and constant chatter. It’s not long before Anne finds herself in trouble, but soon it becomes impossible for the Cuthberts to imagine life without ‘their’ Anne – and for the people of Avonlea to recall what it was like before this wildly creative little girl whirled into town.

Positive Points
If you are looking for a charming story then this is the book for you as it is really easy to get into it and also the characters come alive from the beginning. Anne is this larger then life character and you can see why the Cuthbert’s fell in love with her. The book is a lot of little stories that happen as she grows up into a young adult.
Negative Points
The story initially starts very slowly and in depth and then as she grows up the story gets faster and it makes it a bit disappointing as she is such a great child.
Overall Review
I highly recommend this book as it is a charming read, it is part of a series so you can continue the book if you wish. It does go a bit fast at the end and some stories are a little bit predictable but it is quaint.
