Tell us about:
Your latest single you have released:
The latest single we released is called LSC. It’s a brand new track written collaboratively as a band, and one of the first times we developed a song from the ground up with all members contributing from day one. We recorded the drums at The Audio Department in Edmonton with Phil Anderson, who also recorded the vocals. Guitars were tracked at our own studio space, and bass was actually knocked out early during the drum session, which was a pleasant surprise. Braden absolutely crushed it. The song was mixed by Joel Wanasek and mastered by Maor Appelbaum, both of whom brought an incredible edge and finish to the final track.
As for the concept, Amanda took the lead lyrically. She had been researching the mating rituals of certain insects, like praying mantises and black widows. In nature, after mating, the female sometimes kills the male. We thought that was a killer metal concept. It’s brutal, it’s raw, and it made for a compelling theme. The song leans into that idea of seduction, consumption, and power, and we’re stoked with how it turned out.
Your favourite lyric in this song:
Jeff: “I’m a sucker for love.”
Beej: “I’m digging deeper.”
Braden: “I wanna rip your f******* head off.”
Amanda: I can’t pick just one. I love the moment, the energy, the delivery. it’s always changing, but right now it is. “As I tear through your flesh and bone”
Your favourite song to play live:
Jeff: For me, one of my favorite songs to play live is an unreleased track called Desire. It’s a lot of fun for me and I really enjoy the solo in that one. But honestly, it changes night to night. As soon as I say one song, I think of another. It all depends on the set, the crowd, and how the night feels.
Amanda: My favorite live one is also unreleased. It’s called Far Away From Home. It’s super fun and kind of punky, and the boys really let me go wild on it. I get to be silly and playful. One of the verses is literally just me yelling at aliens. I love it.
Braden: I like playing Stars. There’s this unexpected energy we get back from the crowd during that one. Every single time we’ve played it, it hits in a way I didn’t anticipate, but I’ve come to really look forward to it.
Beej: I’d say George. Especially for me as a drummer, it’s got a thumping, grooving feel and just enough space to really move around in the pocket. It’s a blast.
The song that was the longest to write and why?
Out of the songs we’ve released so far, none of them really dragged on in terms of writing time. They all came together relatively quickly. When we’re in the groove and something feels right, we don’t tend to overcomplicate things. There wasn’t a lot of rewriting or second-guessing and no major lyric changes or parts being scrapped. If anything, maybe Deep Star took a little longer than the others, but even then, it flowed naturally. The songs that are out right now were the ones that felt the most complete in the moment, so we ran with them.
.
Your most emotional track:
Jeff: Stars is definitely my most emotional track. It takes you on a real journey, from start to finish.
Amanda: Yeah, I See You in the Stars was more than just a slow, vibey, melodic, haunting song. It was deeply personal. I wrote it based on real experiences I had gone through, and I had never gone that deep before in a song. It was a vulnerable surprise.
Braden: Agreed. That one speaks for all of us. Nothing more to add.
Beej: Yeah, Stars, obviously. It was written a long time ago, so there are all these original memories tied to it. But as we redid it as a band, new memories formed around it. It’s taken on new life.
Dream collaboration:
Jeff: I would love to share a record with Devin Townsend, that would be a dream come true. Gojira too, that would be another huge one for me.
Beej: Geez, that’s a tough question. There are so many, but if I had to pick, maybe Pink Floyd. That would be wild.
Amanda: I’d love to work with powerful female vocalists like the singers from Lacuna Coil, Nightwish, and Halestorm. But honestly, I want to collaborate with everybody. That’s the dream, right? To work with new and upcoming bands, legends like Tool, just… all of them.
Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:
Jeff: It’s always excitement, anticipation, and high energy. I still get butterflies in my stomach every single time, and I think that’s a good thing. It reminds me how much this means. The day I stop feeling those butterflies is the day I’ll start to worry.
Braden: Oh, it’s go time. The whole day builds toward that moment. From the second we wake up, everything is about getting to that stage. Once we’re there, it’s time to f****** do it.
Beej: It’s honestly euphoric. Everything starts to glow a bit, like right before you pass out or something. You feel this intense buzz in your whole body and it’s like, okay, let’s go. The energy is wild.
Amanda: I carry so much anxiety all day, like I’m vibrating with tension. But the second my foot hits the stage, it’s like I black out and become something else entirely. It’s the only time my brain finally shuts the fuck up. I transform into this other being and it’s the most peaceful and powerful I ever feel. That’s why we do this. All the hours of travel, practice, and prep are for that thirty minutes of pure bliss. It’s spirit mode.
The hardest track to play live:
Jeff: Out of the released singles, I’d say Stars is the most challenging for me. The guitar line never actually repeats the same way twice. The progression is familiar, but each time through there’s a variation—an added layer or a shift in tone. It starts soft and minimal, then grows with each pass. That evolution makes it fun, but also keeps me on my toes.
Braden: I’d agree, Stars can be tricky. We originally wrote it with a different arrangement and played it that way for a long time. Then, right before we released it, we changed the structure. So sometimes I catch myself slipping back into the old version if I’m not totally focused.
Beej: The newer stuff in general is starting to get more intricate than what we were doing before. Timing-wise, LSC took a little work to get the stops and starts locked in exactly how we wanted. Not impossible, just required more attention in rehearsal. Like anything, practice makes perfect.
Essential items you always take on tour with you?
Jeff: If we’re talking gear, it’s definitely my guitar. But outside of that, I’d say my toothbrush. No matter what, that’s coming with me.
Beej: Your wits, bring your wits. And your comb—always bring your comb.
Amanda: It depends how long the tour is, but if you’re out for 30 days, bring 40 pairs of socks and 40 pairs of underwear. You’ll thank yourself later. Essentials, for real.
Braden: My glasses. I’ve learned the hard way that sleeping in your contacts night after night is a nightmare. Glasses are a must.
Describe your fans in three words:
Magical, Epic. Family.
A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:
Amanda: The Division Bell by Pink Floyd. It is juicy, chill, cool, and still rock and roll at the same time. It has that feeling that hits you deep without trying too hard.
Jeff: Either Happy Birthday because it is the most recognized song on Earth or anything by Beethoven or Mozart. That music has stood the test of time for centuries. People still know those names, and that kind of legacy is what every artist hopes for.
Beej: Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin. It has been voted the number one song for decades. It is iconic and it is not going anywhere.
Braden: Seinfeld theme. It is so recognizable, it instantly sets a vibe, and you cannot hear it without reacting. That kind of cultural impact is gold.
What we can look forward to from your band this year:
This year is shaping up to be a big one. You can expect plenty of shows, new music, and a brand new music video. We’re also dropping some fresh merch and maybe even a few surprises along the way. Just stay tuned, there’s always something brewing behind the scenes with us.
