Summer Rewind – The Travel Book – 3 Worst Hotel Experiences…

All this month, we are taking a look back at articles we have written earlier this year – today we look at an article about my worst hotel experiences that went out in February

On this article, I tend to write about areas I have been to in a positive light when I have been travelling. Let’s be honest, that it is not always the case and today we are going to look at some of the worst experiences have had in hotels. I will name the area but not the hotel as they may of improved since I was last there and it may be unfair to start naming and shaming.

Wembly, London

I was put up in this hotel by work and the person who booked it for me had done no research into how bad it actually was. I got there after a really long shift and straight away I didn’t feel safe as it had a horrible feeling to the hotel. The room was horrible and I was convinced that the door did not lock so I had to put the office chair in front to block it. I slept in my clothes that night as the room felt really dirty and I am sure that I did not sleep very well that night. I refused to go back there and they changed my hotel for the next night.

Besancon, France

In France we stayed at a huge branded hotel that is incredibly popular in this country. It was rated 4* and it was an absolute hell hole. It was like being stuck in the 70s and it was super dodgy. The hallways looked like a horror film, the room was really really old, no updated tech at all and everything including the bed was awful. It just looked like it was going to fall apart and considering it is a huge tourist area it is embarrassing.

Lausanne, Switzerland

Peace and quiet is something that I really appreciate in a hotel – this one in Lausanne was anything but that. You could hear every movement of the person above and I do not mean the odd noise I mean wherever they walked you heard it creak, when they took a shower you heard it all especially since the water tunnel goes through your room.
