The Travel Book – Travel Through A Photo – Newcastle, United Kingdom

There is always a story behind a photograph and I thought it would be a fun way to look at the world of travel. So, welcome to the feature that will appear regularly in the travel section.

If there is one area that is really striking in Newcastle then it is the Gateshead Millennium Bridge -it is bold, unique and packs a punch on the River Tyne. When I lived in the Toon it was one of my favourite areas to walk around.

This photograph was taken on a sunny day from the Gateshead side. I really like the angle in which this photograph was taken as it makes it slightly obscure as it is slightly off balance which creates a weird feeling when you look at the photo.

I enjoy the contrast in the image as it has been deliberately edited to look bold to make the white of the bridge stand out. It makes the bridge look really grand and makes a strong impression on the photo.

It is an image that defines Newcastle whilst also connoting the power of the bridge in the city as well.
