We sent our reviewer Damian to watch Tartan Tabletop: A Dungeons & Dragons Comedy
If, like me, you know very little about D&D or tabletop games, Tartan Tabletop has got your back – they cover the basics in their intro so you can enjoy the story, and the fun, along with the fans.
The quest (different each night) is set and narrated by the host; the team (along with guest comedians) play the adventurers.Comedy comes from the daft (and often obscene) situations the characters find themselves in, as well as from the alternating frustration (and delight) of the performers as their ventures are stymied (or thrive) on the roll of the dice. Also, there were puns.
Tonight, they travelled through the intestinal tract of Elijah Wood in order to retrieve an accidentally swallowed ring. Along the way, a goblin sold celebrity teeth, characters lost and gained bones, and the troupe was attacked by a “Bowelrog” (I told you there were puns). One attempt at magic caused a dancing cow to appear.Your
Your mileage will vary.
It was a very funny show – I had a blast, and I’m sure the cognoscenti had an extra level of satisfaction, too.
Guest Panellists: Beth May from “Beth Wants the D” and Caden Scott of “The Faustus Project”Guest Cow: Emily Briggs of “Garbanzo”

RATING: **** 4 Stars
